Free Credit Report
A new law for 2005 requires each of the nationwide consumer reporting agencies to provide you with a free copy of your credit report once a year. For more information and to request your free report visit AnnualCreditReport.com It's important to check your credit report at least once a year. You might be surprised at what you find.
The credit bureaus have online dispute forms you can fill out if you find something on your report that you don't agree with.
Remove Your Name From Credit Card Mailing Lists
Pre-approved credit card offers are sometimes found in the trash and used to apply for credit in your name. Be sure you shred these offers before you throw them out. If you are like me and never even open them, it is best to have your name removed from the mailing lists.
